This tiny Pacman-game, originally made by Gummo, alias Justin Tunney,
contains a network game (cooperative) and more than 100 levels + 5 episodes.
Every level has its own music, and sound effects are included too.
This was programmed to be just like an old arcade game.

How to play?
The level will end, when you run out of lives, or when you have collected
all the meatballs (tiny white dots) + all the drugs (bigger white dots)
from the level. You will then go to the next level, unless you loaded the
level file by yourself with "Load level". When you either finish the game,
or run out of lives, you might get to the Hall of Fame, if your score is
good enough. However, you cannot get to Hall of Fame, if you loaded the
level with "Load level".

What are "drugs"?
When you eat a drug, the screen goes purple for a while and you can now
chase the ghosts. You get 50 for every ghost eaten, and when the game ends,
you get 200 for every life you had left. Every meatball gives you 1 point.
You get an extra life for every 5000 points and in single player game, also
getting to level 10 gives you one extra life.

Each episode contains 20 levels. Level 19 is the hardest one.
Brief descriptions:

Episode I
This is a very easy episode just to get you started.

Episode II
A bit harder episode, but you can survive through it in no time.
Some of the levels are harder, example Level 3.

Episode III
OK, now we're getting started. There are some harder levels in this
episode and you can consider yourself as a good Pacman-player,
if you survive through this.

Episode IV
Faster and more difficult levels. This is probably the hardest episode
in this game.

Episode V
Various levels which just get harder until the final end, 100th level.
Many levels also have no way out, once you enter a new room.

NOTE: Some extra-levels included too. You can play them by choosing "Load level".

Network game, how to play it?
You can play either through the internet or in LAN.

Select "Multiplayer" --> "Host game" to start a network game.

Select "Multiplayer" --> "Join game" to join a network game, and type the
IP address or hostname of the host computer.

When "Waiting for players @ X..." disappears, and you see "Network game with X"
instead, the host computer can start the game by either loading a level file,
or selecting any of the 5 episodes.

In network game, you try to survive as long as you can, and the players can help
each other easily. Pacman X supports 2 players, since 3 or more players would
make the game ridiculously easy.

Linux-version?
Pacman X for Linux starts from the shell script "pacmanlinuX". It requires WINE
to run and Timidity & Java for MIDI-playback. Links for these can be found from
my homepage. And remember to give "pacmanlinuX" execution permission first.

Sorry that there is no native Linux-version available so far. Porting the game
to Linux is a lot of work and so far you and I just need to be satisfied with
this emulated version. But it works perfectly, even MIDI-playback.
